The science of wound healing learnt in the 70′s by surgeons led to an understanding of how growth factors promote healing. The study of growth in wound healing formed the basis of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) science used in cosmetic medicine since 2006. In cosmetic enhancement procedures, the main effects of PRP are tissue regeneration and rejuvenation through development of new main structural proteins of the various connective tissues, vascularisation and elastin stimulation.
The Platelet Rich Plasma procedure in cosmetic medicine is used for Full Face Rejuvenation, Decolletage, Crepey neck, Eye area, Fine lines and wrinkles, Textural improvement, Dull, lacklustre skin, Back of hands, and Body.
The following Video shows how wrinkles around the eyes can be treated using the Plate Rich Plasma (PRP) Process.
PRP procedure initiates the body’s self healing mechanism to promote production of main structural proteins of the various connective tissues and improvements in the skin texture and tone.
During the procedure, the platelet cells are extracted from the patient’s own blood sample and reintroduced into the body in the targetted areas safely, thereby eliminating the risk of allergic reaction.
Results from the procedure continue to improve over time. Improvement can be seen from two to three weeks after the procedure. Over time, the skin feels moist and texture becomes thicker. Production of main structural proteins of the various connective tissues starts to mature in three to six months.
Generally, 2-3 treatments are initially required at 4 to 6 weeks apart. Regular maintenance treatments at six to twelve monthly intervals is recommended to counter the effects of aging.
