Teeth Whitening

At Nitai Medical & Cosmetic Centre, we use the Cosmetic Bright Whitening system.

Can everyone have their teeth whitened?

No, not everyone. However it may be assumed that Cosmetic Bright will have its effect for 90% of users. Nursing or pregnant women should not engage in dental bleaching. People who have had recent dental surgery, or suffer gingivitis should also avoid this treatment.

How long will it take before I see results?

You will see a noticeable improvement after your first 20 minute treatment. Your kit contains 5 x 20 minute treatments. How stained your teeth are to begin with and the desired whiteness that you would like to achieve will determine how many treatments you will need to have. With Cosmetic Bright, your teeth can become up to 9 shades lighter.

How long will results last?

our teeth have become stained in the first place due to lifestyle whether this be consuming foods, beverages or smoking. With the proper care, your Cosmetic Bright treatment can last for years.

Why is Cosmetic Bright different to take home whitening kits currently available at my supermarket, pharmacy etc?

Cosmetic Bright is a unique, professional, in-salon, self-administered teeth whitening procedure. The heat and rays from the UV lamp in conjunction with the patented hydrogen peroxide impregnated foam strips, dramatically reduce treatment time and produce instant results. You will not get the leakage and unpleasant taste associated with other whitening systems. Take home kits can be messy, complicated and time-consuming requiring daily treatments over extended periods.

How is Cosmetic Bright different to laser treatment?

Laser treatments are administered by dentists. The concentration of hydrogen peroxide is a lot stronger and the procedure generally takes 1-1.5 hours. Laser treatments are very effective but can also be invasive and costly.

Will Whitening damage my teeth or gums?

Cosmetic Bright’s formulation of hydrogen peroxide is non-acidic and breaks down into oxygen and water to ensure safe penetration of the tooth enamel to find stains and oxidize them clear. Cosmetic Bright ensures a precise level of dosing which combined with its unique formulation prevents potential gum irritation and tooth sensitivity.

What about Crowns, Veneers, fillings, etc

Only natural tooth structure will whiten. Dental restorations such as crown veneers, etc will not lighten beyond their original shade. Cosmetic Bright will help restore them to their original shade.

Can I drink, eat or smoke after treatment?

The teeth become quite porous during the whitening process so they are more likely to uptake any stains ingested. For best results try to avoid any food or drink which could stain for 24 hours.

What about medicine stained, grey or heavily stained teeth

These types of stains are generally more difficult to whiten and will generally require more treatments than average. Whilst Cosmetic Bright will definitely improve and boost the whiteness of these teeth you may wish to consult your dentist about veneers.

I have white spotting on my teeth- will this disappear?

White Spotting is usually the result of fluorosis or calcium deposits. Cosmetic Bright will not remove these however, it will whiten the surrounding teeth which may balance out your overall teeth colouring.

Will it Hurt?

Some people experience temporary tooth sensitivity or non-specific low sensitivity in their gums, lips or tongue. In most cases these symptoms are considered minor and will subside within a day.
