Dermaroller

Skin Needling

The skin acts as a very effective barrier between the body and its surroundings. As such it protects the body from the effects of temperatures, bacterias, excessive moisture loss and despite how thin it is, it stops many skincare ingredients from penetrating it effectively.

Skincare ingredient penetration ranges from 30% to as low as 1% depending on the “delivery system” used. So ‘wastage’ can range from 70% – 99%.

Skin Needling has become an effective method of infusing active skin rejuvenation ingredients and can achieve improvements to a number of skin ageing and scarring issues. The “Dermaroller” and “Dermastamp” devices are the devices of choice at Nitai for skin needling.

The DermaRoller

The “Dermaroller” is a medical device approved by the Australian Register of Theraupeutic Goods (ARTG). It contains a total of 192 very fine needles , designed to stimulate the skin and deliver active ingredients deeper into the skin. Studies have shown than the Dermaroller will improve the penetration of active skincare ingredients with upto 200 times more delivery.

In cosmetic medicine, Dermarollers help stimulate skin cell regeneration, help new main structural protein-fibres of the various connective tissues and elastic, fibrous glycoprotein to form, help with scar-filling and re-pigmentation, pore size reduction and melanin production.

The Dermaroller can be used for treatment of wrinkles, aged skin, stretch marks, acne scars, pigmentation problems, big pores and sebum over-production.

At Nitai Medical & Cosmetic Centre, our doctor can determine the suitability of the dermaroller for your specific condition.

The DermaRoller used at Nitai Medical & cosmetic Centre has very fine needles and treatment is administered by a trained medical professional. In addition to in-clinic treatment, home use using a dermaroller with shorter needles is also encouraged. As a result gradual improvement over time will result. Our trained professionals will advise you how to use the dermaroller at home.

With Skin Needling techniques such as a “Dermaroller”, it is important to be patient and allow 6-8 weeks before an objectives assessment of the resultant improvement is made. Generally there is minimal social downtime and appropriate sun protection should be used.

DermaStamp

The “Dermastamp” is a vibrational stamping device unlike a manual handheld roller. The “Dermastamp” offers all the same benefits as a “Dermaroller”, however due to smaller head size, it offers the added benefit of being able to treat smaller, isolated areas such as around the eyes, lips. The new “Dermastamp” design has lower operating costs as well.

How skin Needling works

The fine but very sharp needles of the Dermaroller or Dermastamp perforate the skin and induce new nduction of main protein fibres. As the formation of main structural proteins of the various connective tissues progresses, the treated area is filled with new tissues. New capillaries formed improve the blood supply to the area, changing the pigmentation of the tissue. These natural physiological processes result is overall improvement in appearance of the skin.

What issues can be treated with Skin Needling?

Tissue Regeneration, Skin Rejuvenation, Scars , Fine Lines, Wrinkles, Deep wrinkles, Hyper- pigmentation, pore size reduction, stretch marks, acne scarring, skin laxity, Isolated scarring.

Can it be performed on any Skin Colour?

Generally, Skin Needling can be performed on any skin colour and skin type.

How Long before Results can be seen?

Whilst some results will be seen immediately, formulation of main structural proteins of the various connective tissues will start around the 6-week mark and continue to improve for 6-12 months.

Can the Dermaroller be used at home?

Dermaroller has a homecare roller system that can be recommended by our doctor for home use. Whilst the depth of penetration is lower for home use due to shorter needles, nonetheless, regular use at home can help stimulate the skin and help penetrate ingredients deeper into it.
